DR Sunbeams are Nickel Plated Electric Bass Strings Round Wound on Round Cores.  DR Sunbeams are another step forward on a continuing path for players who constantly seek to upgrade their skills and tools to achieve musical satisfaction.  DR Sunbeams Electric Bass Strings are the next generation of nickel-plated bass strings as they are round wound on round cores.  DR Sunbeams are a step forward for the traditional player, and the advanced exponent of fretless bass, both of whom want brightness and warmth.  DR Sunbeams Electric Bass Strings feature the easily recognizable feel and flexibility of DR Round Core construction, with Nickel warmth, softness of feel, and increased response to magnetic pickups due to the sensitive magnetic content when of the round nickel coated wrap wire (when compared to Stainless Steel).

String Construction:

  • Nickel Plated Round Wound
  • Round Core

Sunbeams are awesome strings!
The feel... Wonderfully smooth to the touch. Very forgiving yet communicative tension. Feels just right on the left hand when fretting. The sound... Big warm and thick in the lows and low mids. Slightly scoop central mid range. A certain characteristic bite in the upper mid range that translates to any bass I've tried them on. Warm on the top end.

Probably my favourite strings
Still trying out lots of strings but I keep coming back to the Sunbeams. Just put on a new set and it's really inspiring, they sound and feel great. The E string is a tiny bit too long, as in the thick parts on the post (don't think it makes a difference), but that might just be my bass anyway. Usually I don't like fresh strings but I can't stop playing these. Starting to think they're probably the best strings in the world.

DR sunbeams
These are by far the best strings i've put my hands on , for what i do and need these fit the bill quite well ,i play a wide spectrum of genres and do alot of different techniques from slap to thumb plucking to sub dub sounds to just plain ol smackin the bass. these have a great slap tone , and they feel broken in already from the start ,not stiff ,due to the round core... awesome strings!!! thx to bassstringsonline.com for great service and DR strings for some of the most amazing strings in the world!

Good Quality
I decided to give these a try, after finding that the Alembic short scale strings I used for my old Les Paul Triumph recording bass were no longer available. Like others have said, they are a well balanced, not overly bright sound, and they last a long time before going dull.

Great strings
Put the Sunbeams (040-095) on my fretless jazz - as always with DRs, I'm very happy. Sound is warm and balanced, no lack of clarity. Smooth feel. Will be buying more Sunbeams for that bass.
