La Bella Deep Talkin' Flatwound Standard Gauge 5-String Set is the most popular of the La Bella flatwound gauges.  This set has a more traditional feel with just the right amount of tension.  Most bass players will find these strings a little more rigid compared to most round wound bass strings of the same gauges.  This set is the set to choose for that Deep Talkin' Flat Wound Sound!

These Stainless Steel flats are hand polished to a finish that is fast, soft, and silky smooth.  La Bella Deep Talknin' Flat Wound bass strings are great for the most professional bassists as well as beginners and any level in between.  The best part about these strings they will last a very long time!

looking for a deep jazz sound
I was looking for a set of flat strings with a sounding B string for my jazz bass and the deep talkin' bass gave me what i needed. The other four strings are well balanced and give a nice smooth feeling to the finger. The thru-body design allows to easily fit them on the bass.

These flats are thumpy!!
After using DaDarrio Chromes on a 5 string Jazz bass for years, i decided to give these flatwounds a try. After getting the guitar set up, intonated and adjusted, the first thing i noticed was the smooth feel of a well constructed flat. The sound is to die for!!! the neck pickup sound is thumpy and deep and the bridge pickup sound is thumpy and articulated. if you use your amp's contour knob, you get a nice moderm deep sounding jazz bass sound. I really wished i would have made the switch sooner. I also got the light gauge so it can be a little easier on the fingers and when LaBella says is a perfectly balanced set, they mean it! Kudos to the folks at Talkbass for giving me ideas to acquire these thumpy, old school sounding flats.

Great strings if they're what you're looking for. For finger style, they're as balanced and accurate as any string I've played. I lowered the action way on down on my Ibanez ATK and have 0 buzz. I've played with every kind of TI and DR string on the market and really dig these above all. Only problem is that they are a one trick pony. Don't even think about slapping.

Replace TI's w/ LaBella's
I have a Carvin LB75F and a Washburn 2002 fretted 4-string, both needing strings. I play jazz, with a very light touch. I first put the mediums on the Carvin and it felt awkward. I felt like I had to work my left hand too hard. So I switched to the Lights and it was much better. Then I put the Med. on the Washburn. I had to adjust the height etc, but now they're great. We'll see how long they last...
